This series is three beginner friendly adventure races being held in partnership with Kentucky State Parks and The KY State Parks Foundation. Our friends at The KSPF are doing great work with the parks we all love. Please check out their website for details on their mission and activities.
Gather your friends, you know the ones who keep talking about doing something cool this summer. Kids, get your parents to take a look at this! Parents, get those kids in the woods for some adventure. These exciting, compact races are aimed at getting first-timers and families into adventure racing and will feature easier navigation designed to allow folks to explore three Kentucky State Parks on foot, bike and boat. We’ll really be focusing on creating a top notch experience for new-to-AR participants, and we’ll be especially looking to get kids involved. So get your friends and family together and Commit To Adventure!
For our more experienced racers (or those looking to jump in headfirst) we have three longer races that will be designed with the beginner racer in mind, but also allow the experienced folks to challenge themselves on a course big enough to keep veteran racers busy for most of the race. If that’s you check out the Unbridled Adventure Race Series for 6, 8 and 12 hour races.
For those new to the sport, plan on each race including some form of mountain biking, trekking/running, and paddling. As with all ARs, good navigation with a topographical map and compass will make all the difference in how well your race goes, so we’re offering a FREE Navigation Clinic the evening before the races. All races are open to soloists and teams of 2, 3 or 4. Here’s a good FAQ that may be helpful to new-comers!
We’ll also be having some sort of get-together the Friday before each race. So, feel free to bring your family and enjoy some pre-race activities. Details will be added as plans are finalized.
